"Music communities are becoming ever more involved in international activities to exchange ideas and to learn from each other. Thus, establishing the Seoul International Music Camp Festival has been essential. It is our hope that this camp will continue to further the development of our musical community by providing our students with opportunity to learn from outstanding musicians from home and abroad through daily lessons, master classes, and concerts. We welcome all aspiring students to join us for the twenty third season this August." - The Organizing Committee of the Seoul International Music Camp Festival.

Conducting Workshop Opportunity with Maestro Daniel Spalding
Seoul International Music Camp Festival is offering a workshop “Fundamentals of Orchestral Conducting” to one or more talented musicians of high school age and above to learn and explore the art of conducting and the duties of a professional conductor. The workshop presents an overview of the basic elements and foundations of orchestral conducting and develops basic knowledge and guidance of score study, conducting techniques, overall musicianship, and leadership. During the festival, selected students will observe and participate (including actual podium time) in rehearsals and concerts with the festival orchestra, a mix of professional and student musicians, and receive personal guidance from Maestro Daniel Spalding.
Currently Music Director of the New Jersey Capital Philharmonic and the Philadelphia Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra, Daniel Spalding’s distinguished career has included guest appearances with many of Europe’s top professional orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, Guildford Philharmonic and London Mozart Players. He has appeared in France with Orchestre de Parisiens and at Eglise de La Madeleine conducting the Mozart Requiem with the Mozart Choir & Orchestra of Paris, in Russia with the National Russian Philharmonic, in Yugoslavia with the Belgrade Philharmonic, in Romania with virtually all the state orchestras and opera companies, including five years as Principal Guest Conductor of the Cluj-Napoca Philharmonic, and in Poland with Filharmonia Opolska. Earlier in his career he served as assistant conductor to Sergiu Comissiona with the Houston Symphony Orchestra. Under his leadership, the Philadelphia Virtuosi has toured extensively throughout the USA, Mexico, South America and Europe, and has recorded several CDs for Connoisseur Society, Naxos, New World Records, New Ariel Records and Arabesque that have received accolades worldwide, including Gramophone’s “Editor’s Choice,” named one of the top CDs of the year by the Chicago Tribune and the London Observer, and as a finalist for a Grammy award.
