Sang Jun Yhee is an American cellist who has undoubtedly demonstrated his excellence in both domestic and international arenas. Sang Jun received the Doctor of Music degree in cello performance from the Manhattan School of Music in 2017 where he was a student of Julia Lichten. Sang Jun Yhee received his Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees at the Juilliard School under the tutelage of Joel Krosnick and David Soyer. Recently, Sang Jun has finished his Konzertexamen Degree at the Lubeck Musikhochschule in Germany as a scholar of the Deutsch Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). Additionally, Sang Jun has extensively studied with world-famous cellists, David Geringas and Arto Noras. Sang Jun is also the recipient of the Frank Huntington Beebe Fund for Musicians, a well-known fellowship that financially supports some of the most gifted young musicians in the United States.
Sang Jun has won national and international competitions including St. Blasien International Competition in Germany, American String Quartet Competition, the Juilliard School Shostakovich Concerto Competition, the Society of American Musicians Young Artist Competition and many others.
Sang Jun’s appearances as a soloist and chamber musician have included concerts at the Schlewig-Holstein Music Festival in Lubeck, Germany, the Chigiana Music Festival in Siena, Italy, the Usedom Music Festival in Usedom, Germany, the Interlaken Music Festival in Interlaken, Switzerland, a performance of the Shostakovich Cello Concerto No. 1 with Lubeck Philharmonic Orchestra, and performance of the Saint-Saens Cello Concerto with the Hamburg Camerata. He also is the artist-in-residence at Westmont College and guest musician with the Philadelphia Orchestra.
